The beginning
There was no launch and no office. There was a belief: if we can help someone, we should.
The first work was small and personal — arranging ration for a household that had run out, paying for a child's books, taking someone to a hospital who had no way of getting there. People began to call when they knew of someone in trouble, and they kept calling.
Sarvahit Seva Foundation was formed so that this help could be organised rather than accidental — so that a request does not depend on whether one particular person happened to hear about it.
The foundation still works the same way it began: locally, with known faces, and with the person in need treated as a guest rather than a case.
Our values
Help is given because it is needed, not because it can be shown. Dignity of the receiver comes before the record of the giver.
No caste, religion, language or politics decides who we serve. If a person is in need, that is the whole qualification.
We describe our work as it is — no inflated numbers, no borrowed credit. What is given is used for what it was given for.
We serve the streets and colonies we live in. Being close by means we can return the next week, and the week after.
Purpose & commitment
Our purpose is not to grow large. It is to make sure that in our area, help exists — reliably, without conditions, and within reach of a person who has no one else to ask.
To the people we serve, we commit that they will be treated with respect and never asked to perform their poverty for anyone.
To the people who support us, we commit that what you give reaches the work, and that you can ask us anything about it.
